Where is the Pickup Location(s)?
Pickup locations will be at the Redondo Beach Metro C (Green Line) Station park and ride - 2406 Marine Ave., Redondo Beach, CA 90278 at at the UCLA Luskin Center turnaround on the UCLA campus - 425 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095
Is there a charge to park a person's vehicle at the Pickup locations?
Free parking at the Metro Green Line Park and Ride Station. Regular daily parking rates apply if parking on the UCLA Campus (Lot 8 is the closest parking location).
What does my cost pay for?
Pricing for the trip includes the bus ride (deluxe 56 passenger bus with comfortable seating, music, games, trivia, movies, alcohol (on the party bus), 2 nights lodging, and all related activities UBAA is sponsoring for the weekend. Lift tickets, ski/snowboard lessons and other activities offered by Mammoth Mountain are not included in the pricing. UBAA will try to offer discounts for lift tickets and lessons as we come across and will pass this along to our guests.
Can I get a refund on my trip if I cannot attend?
No. All sales are final. However, if one cannot go, guest can transfer their trip costs to someone else to attend. UBAA will not be facilitating this.
Can I set up a payment plan?
Yes, one can be set up by sending an email to lavantwooten@yahoo.com. However, the initial deposit is non-refundable and there will be a schedule for payments equaling the total cost. A payment plan can ensure the early bird pricing up to the due date of final payment.
I would like to attend, but I would like to stay by myself in a bedroom. Is this possible?
Yes. To take advantage of this, please send an email to lavantwooten@yahoo.com as there is an added cost for this "luxury".
Is my trip cost tax deductible?
Since UBAA is a non-profit 501c3 organization, your trip cost will be considered a tax deduction minus the actual cost of the trip. You will have to consult your tax person for any clarifications.
I cannot attend, but would like to sponsor an undergraduate student. Is this possible?
Yes, and this donation will be fully deductible.
I'm an undergraduate student but would like to be sponsored. What is the process?
Sponsorship opportunities will be limited to the amount of sponsors received, and will be allocated on a first come/first served basis. A undergraduate student can pay the available student rate which will guarantee consideration for a price reduction depending on how many sponsor UBAA is able to get to participate. For example, the 1st student that pays a student rate will be the first person offered any scholarships through sponsorship when they become available. Note all payments are final - no returns, so if there are no sponsors, the student rate paid by the student will apply fully.
Are their sponsorship opportunities for Graduate students?
Not at this time.
Is there a drive option?
Yes. The pricing is discounted in regards to the bus (all other UBAA sanctioned activities will be included in the pricing), but UBAA isn't responsible for gas. However, those who choose to drive will be given a parking pass that will allow for parking at their designated condo.
Is there a catered option available?
Yes, once UBAA establishes a caterer and the menu is known, this will be offered as an addition to anyone interested. The catered option will include dinner on Friday night, Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and condiments for sandwiches for Saturday UBAA guest can take with them to the ski lifts.
What are the planned activities for the weekend?
Planned activities include a Friday Night reception with DJ, a Noon time Mixer on Saturday with DJ, bowling Saturday evening, and a Saturday night party with DJ, and dominoes and cards throughout the weekend, and jacuzzi times Friday and Saturday night.
Is there an option to pay for just the activities?
Not at this time - it may be offered at a later date.
Is the weekend Kid friendly?
Yes. Will be working for kid friendly activities that include bowling, games, movies. If we have two buses, one will be a "party" bus and the other will be kid friendly.
Is alcohol allowed on the bus?
Yes, but UBAA will only provide limited alcohol, but feel free to bring your own.
Will there be food on the bus?
Yes, some finger foods and snacks (chips/soda/water) will be provided on the buses going to Mammoth. The buses will make one stop going up to a Super Market (Stater Bros.) so guests can shop and the buses will stop in Bishop on the return trip for dinner (dinner is not provided by UBAA).
I would like to stay with my friends. Is this possible?
While UBAA cannot guarantee this because of logistics, UBAA will make it a priority to group friends together in the same condo, and priority will be given to families to ensure they are in the same condo.
Where are the condos located?
Condos are within a very short walk to Canyon Lodge and the Free Gondola that takes one to the Village (the Noon-Time Mixer is in the Village).
What is the general makeup of each condo?
Most condos are two bedrooms with a loft. Each bedroom has a Queen or King bed (depends on the actual condo), and some combination of bunk beds or twin beds in the loft. These condo's generally sleep 6-8 people comfortably. There will be a few condos that are a single bedroom with a loft, the single bedroom will have a Queen or King bed (depending on the condo) and the loft usually has a bunk bed.
Each condo that sleeps 8 has 2 bathrooms minimum and a full kitchen. Condos with a single room has 1 bathroom and a full kitchen.
Is there an option to purchase a full condo?
Yes. Full condo purchases are available.
What is the advantage of purchasing a full condo?
Advantage is guarantee lodging of a party up to 8 people in a condo. The price of a condo is discounted vice individual purchases. The purchaser will have full autonomy in regards to the bedding for his/her guest.
